Meet the team, Drakes Jewellery Hospital, Drakes Repairs, Jewellers, Plymouth

Meet the DJH Team and find out more about the people behind your repairs. Our team work tirelessly to ensure your jewellery
leaves the workshop looking the very best it can.

We understand it is difficult to leave your sentimental items with someone you don't know personally. But rest assured,
your jewellery is in safe hands with Kim and Natalie.

Kim, Drakes Jewellery Hospital, Drakes Jewellers Plymouth

Kim is our Drakes Jewellery Hospital Manager. She ensures the smooth running of our Drakes Jewellery Hospital and repairs all our customers’ beautiful pieces in our in-house workshop.

She also likes to think she is the Jewellery Hospital’s resident DJ, keeping the workshop upbeat with a ‘good’ selection of music.

What made you get into the jewellery industry?

After finishing school, I decided to give the jewellery industry a try, it’s something I’ve always felt passionate about. I began working as a Junior Assistant in both Plymouth Goldsmiths and Drakes 11 years ago. Working my way up, I went from being a Sales Consultant, to taking on the role of Repair Administrator for 6 years before moving into our Drakes Jewellery Hospital almost two years ago.

What do you like most about your job?

There is never a dull day in the Drakes Jewellery Hospital; my role is so versatile! I just love being able to restore our customer’s jewellery. It’s a fantastic feeling to present them with their much-loved pieces, fully restored & looking as sparkly as the day they purchased them. I love a challenge and being able to get my hands dirty!

What do you do in your spare time?

I have a passion for cooking & really enjoy running. I ran the Britain’s Ocean City Half Marathon this year for Team Drakes and will also be participating in the 10k later this year. I love spending time with my nephew, socialising with friends and watching live bands.

Tell us an interesting fact or two?

I am trained in nine different types of dance and I don’t eat anything green. I also have a secret chocolate draw in my house… but shhh don’t tell anyone!

What is your favourite jewellery piece?

My favourite would have to be my orange sapphire and diamond three stone ring which fits perfectly with my two row diamond wishbone ring! I just love its gorgeous colour; the moment I came across this gorgeous ring in Drakes I just knew I had to have it!

Natalie is our Drakes Jewellery Hospital Repairs Administrator. From logging all the repairs that come through the Drakes Jewellery Hospital to ensuring quality control after the repair, Natalie is there to update you on your repairs and answer any queries whilst your item is with us.

What made you get into the jewellery industry?

I started working as a Sales Consultant for our Flagship Store in the mall and firstly I was attracted to all the twinkly diamonds in the window! Secondly, I love the whole excitement of customers coming in to buy a special piece of jewellery to commemorate an occasion or experience in their life, I absolutely love being part of that excitement and joy that it brings.

What do you like most about your job?

I love how versatile my job can be, no 2 days are the same! Its so exciting seeing the customers items when they come into the Jewellery Hospital and how amazing they look after they have been lovingly restored.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time I’m usually found running round after my little girl or in our kitchen which is the heart of our home, cooking and baking! I also love watching live bands and watching my football team Tottenham Hotspur!

Tell us an interesting fact about you?

I have seen Mcfly live over 30 times back in my youth! I’m also obsessed with Christmas, I think about Christmas most days, even in the heat of summer!

What is your favourite jewellery piece?

My favourite piece has to be my engagement ring, my now husband proposed to me on the beach in front of St Michaels Mount and it was perfect!
