Meet the team, Drakes Jewellery Hospital, Drakes Repairs, Jewellers, Plymouth

Meet the DJH Team and find out more about the people behind your repairs. Our team work tirelessly to ensure your jewellery
leaves the workshop looking the very best it can.

We understand it is difficult to leave your sentimental items with someone you don't know personally. But rest assured,
your jewellery is in safe hands with Kim and Rachel.

KIM - DRAKES JEWELLERY HOSPITAL MANAGER

Kim is our Drakes Jewellery Hospital Manager. She ensures the smooth running of our Drakes Jewellery Hospital and repairs all our customers’ beautiful pieces in our in-house workshop.

She also likes to think she is the Jewellery Hospital’s resident DJ, keeping the workshop upbeat with a ‘good’ selection of music.

What made you get into the jewellery industry?

After finishing school, I decided to give the jewellery industry a try, it’s something I’ve always felt passionate about. I began working as a Junior Assistant in both Plymouth Goldsmiths and Drakes 11 years ago. Working my way up, I went from being a Sales Consultant, to taking on the role of Repair Administrator for 6 years before moving into our Drakes Jewellery Hospital almost two years ago.

What do you like most about your job?

There is never a dull day in the Drakes Jewellery Hospital; my role is so versatile! I just love being able to restore our customer’s jewellery. It’s a fantastic feeling to present them with their much-loved pieces, fully restored & looking as sparkly as the day they purchased them. I love a challenge and being able to get my hands dirty!

What do you do in your spare time?

I have a passion for cooking & really enjoy running. I ran the Britain’s Ocean City Half Marathon this year for Team Drakes and will also be participating in the 10k later this year. I love spending time with my nephew, socialising with friends and watching live bands.

Tell us an interesting fact or two?

I am trained in nine different types of dance and I don’t eat anything green. I also have a secret chocolate draw in my house… but shhh don’t tell anyone!

What is your favourite jewellery piece?

My favourite would have to be my orange sapphire and diamond three stone ring which fits perfectly with my two row diamond wishbone ring! I just love its gorgeous colour; the moment I came across this gorgeous ring in Drakes I just knew I had to have it!

RACHEL - DRAKES JEWELLERY HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATOR

Rachel is our Drakes Jewellery Hospital Repairs Administrator. From logging all the repairs that come through the Drakes Jewellery Hospital to ensuring quality control after the repair, Rachel is there to update you on your repairs and answer any queries whilst your item is with us.

What made you get into the jewellery industry?

My love for PANDORA charms & jewellery first sparked my interest in jewellery! When I saw this job advertised, I just knew it was the perfect role for me. Having worked in the Equestrian industry for several years, I was desperate to get away from all the muck and mire of the great outdoors – and as I love pretty, sparkly things, I felt jewellery was the answer for me.

What do you like most about your job?

I love being able to see first-hand how our customer’s precious items are lovingly restored. Being able to give our customers this personal service is a wonderful feeling. I really enjoy my job; there are so many dimensions to my role. The team are so passionate and I love being able to see all the beautiful bespoke pieces we create for our customers. I already have a number of different pieces that I’d love to have made in the future on my wish list!

What do you do in your spare time?

I absolutely love going to the theatre and cinema and acting in my spare time. I play the piano in my church band and love all things Disney; from going to Disneyland Paris & Disneyworld, Florida to collecting Disney collector pins and sketching my favourite characters.

Tell us an interesting fact about you?

I enjoy writing historical fiction and have just finished writing my first novel! It’s called ‘Back to the Land’.

What is your favourite jewellery piece?

My PANDORA Shimmering bouquet ring because it's really pretty and adds a bit of sparkle to any outfit!
