2021 Wedding Trends
Posted on July 16th, 2020
Whether you’d always planned to get married in 2021, have had to postpone your 2020 wedding due to the global pandemic or became engaged during lockdown so are starting your wedding plans, there are set to be some huge trends for 2021.
One thing that Covid-19 really taught people was the importance of supporting local businesses. A running trend for 2021 weddings is that couples will be more likely to support local businesses by opting for local produce to be served at their weddings, using local florists and photographers and also purchasing wedding dresses from a local boutique rather than from a large online business. This is a trend that here at Drakes, Plymouth we really love, being an independent family run business ourselves.
Bigger the better vs. Microweddings
The global pandemic has really changed the way some people think and feel about those closest to them. It is predicted that in 2021 there will be a boom in large extravagant weddings for couples that feel that it’s the perfect time to celebrate with everyone they know and bring them together after not being able to see many of them for so long.
On the other hand, the Microwedding trend looks set to become more popular. It is thought that some couples may decide that a smaller, more intimate wedding with only their closest family and friends is the most important thing to them. Having a Microwedding often means huge savings on costs and that couples can really focus on the experience their guests will have. It will also mean that the newlyweds will have lots of time to spend with the ones that mean the most to them during their special day.
Whatever type of wedding you choose, make sure that its right for you as a couple.
There is set to be a big focus on guest experience for weddings in 2021. From amazing entertainment to self service bars where guests can create their own cocktails and pull their own pints, guest focused weddings will be a trend that grows.
This also ties in with the acts of gratitude trend that is set to boom in popularity. From messages of thanks on biscuits and personalised place settings to gifts for guests, these acts of gratitude are a beautiful way of thanking your guests for coming to celebrate your special day with you and to show just how much you value and appreciate them. The lovely Rachel at Cut me Off a Slice makes the most amazing personalised biscuits, we would definitely recommend her!
Going all out is a running theme in 2021. From statement veils and sleeves to wearable florals and bridal crowns, couples planning a 2021 wedding are adopting the you only live once attitude in light of the recent months. This also ties in with the full glam trend that is set for upcoming weddings. For many brides to be they’ve had months of no makeup, jogging bottoms and messy buns, so going full glam for their wedding day with make-up, hair and accessories is top of the priority list!
If you are looking to invest in a special accessory for your big day, why not make it an heirloom piece that can be passed down through generations to come and fit in with the ‘something old’ tradition. Heirloom investments are becoming a huge trend, especially now that many are feeling even closer with their loved ones. We love the idea of investing in a beautiful piece of diamond or gemstone jewellery that you will be able to pass on to your children/grandchildren/great grandchildren.
Happy 2021 wedding planning!
