TOP TIPS TO PLANNING YOUR PERFECT WEDDING

Posted on February 1st, 2018

For some, a new year means the wedding planning commences. There is a huge amount to think about when it comes to planning your dream wedding, some may say the list is endless!  From catering, down to the finer details, everything needs to be planned and thought about. At Drakes, Plymouth we have put together our ‘top tips’ guide to get you going on the preparation for your special day.

GETTING STARTED

Setting a budget is a great place to start. Although these can be hard to stick to, it is a good idea to make a list of everything you will need to pay out for, for your big day and split your budget as you see fit. It also means you can add to it as your ideas progress and also keep it updated with exact prices so that you know how your budget is looking.

WEDDING PLANNERS

Wedding planner style scrap books are becoming increasingly popular as a way to write down all of your ideas. They are great for making lists and writing down things like appointments and dates that you don’t want to forget. Another great idea to utilise them to their full potential is to add magazine cuttings that you have seen, to look back on for inspiration.  They often contain already titled sections so that you don’t miss a single thing in your planning process. We have linked a few of our favourite wedding planner scrap books for you to take a look at;

DO YOUR RESEARCH

Before committing to anything and paying money to vendors such as caterers and your venue, make sure you have done your research. Talking to family and friends about any recommendations they have is often a good way to avoid disappointment and reading reviews on companies is key. Do not be afraid to say no or to negotiate with the people YOU are paying to make your wedding day perfect.

That said, don’t let anyone else sway your final decisions, it is up to you and your partner. Although taking advice from others is more often helpful than not, there is always going to be someone that doesn’t agree with the decision you are making so when it comes down to it, do what’s right for you, your partner and your day.

ENJOY IT!

Enjoy the opportunity while you can, as you may not get to do it again. Although it can be a stressful time don’t let it take over your lives and make you miserable. There is so much fun to be had and you can involve as little or as many people as you would like. From days out with friends at wedding shows to inspire you and create a list of contacts, to honeymoon researching with your loved one and dress fittings with your mum, the list of everything you have to do before the big day may seem never ending but enjoy it as much as you can. Whether it goes to plan or not is all part of the experience.

One way we can help you treasure and reminisce on your wedding day memories for years to come is with our free wedding guestbook. Here at Drakes, Plymouth we are giving away a beautiful free guestbook when you purchase your wedding rings from us. That’s one less thing for you to worry about buying!
